About the Event
Join the ISCM's Dr. Peter Sousounis for an excellent talk on climate change adaptation for the P&C insurance industry.
About the Event
Climate change has been complicating risk assessment for some time now. Extreme weather events have become stronger with increasing frequency. Secondary perils like severe convective storms and wildfires are no longer a secondary risk while compound events like floods following closely on the embers of wildfires are amplifying the resulting catastrophes. With this in mind, tried and true historically based approaches need to be reevaluated.
This presentation will cover some of the ways that climate change has been throwing a wrench into risk assessment. Importantly this presentation will also cover some suggested changes to catastrophe models, risk assessment practices and insurance products in order to better address the changing risk landscape.
