Giving a good research presentation can open doors to new collaborations, increase your odds of funding success and make it more likely that other people will respond to your ideas. But if we're honest with ourselves, scientific talks are all too often confusing, boring and overloaded with information. In this one-hour seminar, Prof. Scott St. George will share a few simple suggestions to make your next conference talk or seminar more enjoyable, engaging and effective.

About the speaker
Dr. Scott St. George is Associate Professor of Geography, Environment and Society at the University of Minnesota. He is expert in environmental change and volatility and its impacts on water resources, natural hazards, and human society. He is a Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany, the Käte Hamburger Centre for Apocalyptic and Post-Apocalyptic Studies in Heidelberg, and Minnesota's Institute on the Environment and Institute for Advanced Study. Prior to joining Minnesota, he was a Research Scientist with the Geological Survey of Canada. He received his PhD in Geosciences, with a minor in Global Change, from the University of Arizona.
