About the Coffee Talk
The Consortium for Enhancing Resilience and Catastrophe Modeling (CERCat) brings together academia and industry to advance the science of catastrophe risk modeling and resilience. By connecting cutting-edge research with real-world needs, CERCat helps ensure that next-generation models are both scientifically rigorous and practically useful. This coffee talk will highlight a CERCat project focused on improving building fragility models for severe convective storms (SCS). Specifically, we explore how traditional hail fragility curves can be expanded to account for the combined effects of hail and wind. By incorporating these interacting hazards, the project aims to provide more accurate estimates of damage to building components such as roofs and walls—offering a more realistic representation of risk in SCS events.
We look forward to having you join the call on April 21st.
