About the Event
Join Emily Sambuco as she shares her perspectives and experiences from the ICECHIP field research campaign, which took place throughout May and June of 2025. ICECHIP, which stands for the In-situ Collaborative Experiment for the Collection of Hail In the Plains, is a multiagency, large field campaign funded by the National Science Foundation to study hail and hailstorms in greater detail than ever before. As the first major field campaign solely focused on hail and hailstorms since the National Hail Research Experiment concluded in 1978, it’s goal is to close critical gaps in hail research.
Emily will provide an overview of ICECHIP, share her own experiences in the field as a member of IBHS’s research team, and discuss how this critical research will improve our understanding of hail and hail impacts across the industry.
