About the Event
Description
Canada is familiar with the peril of wildfire although heightened activity in the last ten years has caused catastrophic losses and pushed the peril to the forefront for risk managers. 2023 was an incredibly active fire season for Canada although losses, while notable, were not as extreme as may have been expected based on the level of activity. This session will provide context to the 2023 Canadian wildfire season through the lens of historic activity and losses and provide an understanding of what factors contributed to such an extreme year in terms of fire activity.
